Renting a treatment room or suite lets estheticians run their own business without the cost and commitment of opening a full studio. You keep control of your schedule, pricing and client experience. Here is what to check before you sign.
Questions to ask before you rent
- Pricing: is it hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, and what is included?
- Amenities: treatment bed, sink, lighting, ventilation, storage, Wi-Fi and laundry.
- Access: which days and hours can you use the space, and is it easy for clients to find?
- Deposits and cancellations: what is the security deposit, and what happens if plans change?
- Agreement: is there a written rental agreement that spells out each side's responsibilities?
- Compliance: does the space meet your state's requirements for esthetics services?
See the space first
Visit in person or by video. Look at cleanliness, privacy, noise and parking, and picture your client's experience from the front door to the treatment bed.
Protect yourself
Keep your own liability insurance active, read the agreement in full, and photograph the condition of the room when you move in.
Listing your own space
If you have an empty room or suite, renting it to another licensed pro can offset your costs. Clear photos, an amenities list, availability, pricing and a cancellation policy help the right renter find you.
