A virtual esthetician is a Licensed Esthetician who offers skin consultations by video, instead of or alongside in-person treatments. Here is how to set up a virtual offer that clients book and come back to.
What is a virtual esthetician?
Virtual sessions usually cover skin assessments, home-care routines, product guidance and follow-ups between appointments. They let you earn from your expertise without a treatment room.
What you can offer virtually
- Skin assessments and goal setting
- Personalized morning and evening routines
- Product guidance based on skin type and concerns
- Pre- and post-treatment check-ins for in-person clients
- Progress reviews over several weeks
Stay within your state's scope of practice. Virtual consultations are about education and guidance, not diagnosing or treating medical conditions. When something looks medical, refer the client to a dermatologist or physician.
Step 1: Confirm your license and insurance
Make sure your esthetics license is active and that your liability insurance covers consultation services. If you are unsure, ask your insurance provider directly.
Step 2: Define your consultation offer
Decide on session length, what the client receives afterward, such as a written routine, and whether you offer follow-ups or packages. A specific offer is easier to book than a general skin chat.
Step 3: Set up booking, payments and video
Clients need a simple way to book a time, pay upfront and join a video call. On The Providers HQ, clients book and pay through the platform, sessions run by video, and payouts go to your bank through Stripe.
Step 4: Build an intake process
Use an intake form to collect skin concerns, current products, allergies and goals before the call. Asking clients for clear, well-lit photos ahead of time makes the session far more useful.
Step 5: Follow up and rebook
Send a short summary after each session with the routine you recommended and a suggested check-in date. Follow-ups are where results, and repeat bookings, happen.
