A virtual skin consultation is a video appointment with a Licensed Esthetician. They look at your skin on camera, ask about your routine and goals, and give you a written skin-care plan you can follow at home. You don't drive anywhere or sit in a waiting room.
Who it's for
- You want a routine that actually fits your skin, not a guess from a store shelf
- You're dealing with breakouts, dryness, oiliness, dullness, uneven tone or early signs of aging
- You've bought products that didn't work and want a professional opinion before buying more
- You're busy, live far from a good esthetician, or want help between in-person facials
What happens, step by step
- Pick a time and pay online. You see the price before you book.
- Fill out an intake form. Expect questions about your current products, medications, allergies, skin history and goals. Many estheticians also ask for clear photos.
- Meet by video. Your esthetician looks at your skin, asks follow-up questions and explains what they see. A first visit usually runs 30 to 60 minutes.
- Get your plan. You receive a written routine: what to use, in what order, morning and night, and what to stop using.
- Follow up. Many clients book a short check-in after a few weeks to adjust the plan.
How to get the most out of it
- Sit facing a window in daylight with a clean, makeup-free face
- Have your current products within reach so you can show the labels
- Write down your top three concerns and your budget
- Use a phone or laptop with a good camera and a steady connection
What a virtual consultation can't do
An esthetician can't diagnose a medical condition or prescribe medication, by video or in person. If something looks like it needs a doctor, such as a changing mole, painful cystic acne or a spreading rash, a good esthetician will tell you to see a dermatologist.
Frequently asked questions
Is a virtual skin consultation as good as an in-person facial?
They do different jobs. A facial is a treatment. A virtual consultation is advice and a plan. Many clients use both: a virtual consult to build the routine, and in-person visits for treatments.
How much does a virtual skin consultation cost?
Each esthetician sets their own price, and you see it before you book. There's no surprise fee at checkout.
Do I need to buy specific products?
No. A good esthetician works with your budget and can suggest options at different price points. Ask whether they earn a commission on anything they recommend.
Is my information private?
Your intake answers and photos are shared only with the esthetician you book. Ask your esthetician how they store photos and whether sessions are recorded.
This guide is general information, not medical advice. Estheticians don't diagnose or treat medical conditions. See a doctor or dermatologist for anything that is painful, spreading, bleeding or changing.
